Abstract

Med Finder is a web based application, to allow users for quick and accurate search for the medication they might need. When people travel they almost never know the medication names in the countries they travel to. Most medication, although used worldwide, have different brand name, depending on the country it is being sold in. Also, the inside leaflet does not contain any other, alternative name of the product, which leaves customer unaware of what to look or ask for in another country. Here lies the opportunity for medicine and supplements search application which ideally should provide the customer with the list of alternative names available in the country they are interested in.

The information provided by Med Finder is also available through internet search. However, when someone types in “aspirine” the results will contain aspirine sellers, pharmacies, retailers, prices and often times picture of the package. The search results will not provide alternatives names, nor will they provide alternatives for aspirine or latin name of the main ingredient / active agent. It is possible to find this information’s over more searches, but it requires more time and browsing the result pages. Also, although results pages might show other names for the medication or supplement, they will not show global availability.

Checking the medication or supplements at home before leaving for a trip or vacation may be convenient but looking for all of this, while already on vacations, in the pharmacy, in need for the medication would be problematic. Med Finder will find the relevant information in merely few taps on the screen. Although the application is rather designed for desktops, as a web application, it will be automatically available on any mobile device with internet access. Due to application design (as a web app), there is no need for the mobile device storage use to download it. It will be available globally, as long as the user device has an internet access. Due to the nature of Med Finder, there is no need
to write the information down and possibly loose that written piece of paper and wet it and not be able to decipher the message afterwards.
