Abstract

The purpose of this document is to outline the development of a game that has been written, developed, and designed by one person. This document will show how far the game has come along with the features that proved too difficult to get done in the time frame and the future development that will rectify them features.

Pawns of war uses Unity engine, this engine is responsible for multiple awards in 2016 for titles such as, Firewatch (awarded best 3D visuals), Job Simulator (awarded best VR game), and Lara Croft Go (awarded best mobile game). Unity offers a user-friendly interface with outstanding graphics and performance.

Pawns of War was built from the ground up to offer the best user experience possible. However, this is not without its challenges as this game does not follow the main stream approach. There are limited resources available for a game like this.

In addition to the Unity engine, Maya Autodesk was heavily involved in the making of this game. Maya was used to create the characters that are used in place of chess pieces. The textures that were added to the character helmets in Maya was easily imported into unity from the Maya .fbx file, there was no need to make any additions when opening them up in the Unity screen, apart from scaling the characters to fit the chessboard.

The end goal of this game is to provide an immersive user experience, that can be played by gamers around the world. Additionally, I wanted to create a game that will continue to be developed in the future.

In Pawns of War you do battle with your friends to see who is the ultimate strategy master.
