Abstract

E-Commerce is a subject that is at the foremost of business transactions. Ecommerce is one of the challenges to businesses and is still a very new concept to many.

The primary aim of this dissertation is to examine the impact of ecommerce on Irish SME's.

The author has not only researched the world of e-commerce but also its importance to small and medium sized enterprises.

It was considered appropriate to apply knowledge gained from a review of literature to a primary research project of conducting three case studies on Irish SME's that use e-commerce tools in its business functions.

Combining both the literature review and case study the author deduced that e-commerce is having a enormous impact on the way Irish SME's conduct business however Irish SME's have been slow to implement ecommerce and the majority of companies have not yet fully exploited the unique opportunity to transform their business processes.
