This project is about cross-platform application build on Java programming language. By using Java, as main development programming language the program will be easily installed, as JVM is preinstalled on all modern operation systems this is possible.
The application uses Java ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) framework available as open source to make recognition of image and extract characters from image analysis and based on registration number create records in GUI that will be stored in company network database.
Records then can be monitored directly from application and as well from specially created webpage where record can be monitored from the office. In few words the application will help to provide security improvement as well as a better storage and organization of data (e.g. storing records in database).
This technical report will introduce the reader to “Motion Sensor” software how the idea developed and how this application works and can be used in company with busy traffic on the gates, whereas a company is interested in keeping track of all vehicles entering on premises; also technologies used in the development will be explained. Main functions of the application and functionality will be explained as well as snapshots of the application will be shown. In further development future progression of the application and implementation of new functionality will be explained.
The idea to develop this application came to me from my work environment which is security. During few years working in this place we have accidents where unauthorized person enters the premises by providing false details and trying to steel goods from yard or warehouse. Registration was recorded by security but because no appropriate system was installed this person could come with the same car again after some time when different security officer is working. Where setting up this application would provide better solution for a company to store records on anyone who enters the premises.
Also for transport manager or other person in the company who is interested in knowing who is on premises will have accesses to webpage on company‟s local network where will the table from database will be visible and all old/new record will be displayed with information such as: registration number, company, name, nature of accesses, time and comments.
The reason why there is no such a program installed already in places where I am working is because there are some barriers: first is money, in recession times management is only thinking of how to cut expenses but not about investing in something; also similar solutions available are expensive and second reason is complexity of installation and usage of the system. With my solution, application which will be open source and free of charge, I will also try to reduce complexity to minimum.
