Abstract

In February 2016 the number of available applications on the Google Play Store reached two million (Statista, 2016). There is such a large number of music festival applications already on the Android market such as; The Festival App, Festival Buddy and applications for individual festivals such as The Official Electric Picnic app (Play.google.com, 2016). However, FestFinder offers something different than the rest of these applications. FestFinder holds the locations of multiple music festivals in Europe. Users can search for the desired festival using two search pages. Once the festival is found the user can navigate to the information page where they can find useful material such as general information, line-ups, start and end dates, site maps, ticket information, social media links and promotional multimedia. Not only does the app offer festival information and locations, but it also provides users with a checklist, so they don’t forget essential items before heading to their favourite festival. FestFinder can also be used to post and browse tickets for sale.

In order for FestFinder to be different than the other applications available on the market, it needed to have an extra pull towards the app that some of the rest don’t. This is why FestFinder includes a Map and list search page, a checklist and a ticket sales page, as mentioned above, along with the current local weather, a festival guide and a twitter search so that users can be up-to-date with festival news and so they can see what festivals might be trending or popular at the moment.
