Abstract

It is important to undertand attitudes to MMR vaccination with respect to disease control. The social media is a useful resource to assess opinions using data mining techniques. A system was built to retrieve data from Facebook relating to MMR vaccination and associated search terms. The system is quick, consistant and easy to use. Initial analysis of the data suggest that word clouds may be a good way to monitor attitiudes to MMR vaccination over time.
