Reynolds, Deirdre (2003) An insight into the effect that communication has on employee motivation in mergers and acquisitions. Undergraduate thesis, Dublin, National College of Ireland.
PDF (Bachelor of Arts)
Mergers, Takeovers and acquisitions in recent years have become very common in the business industry. In the last decade, the level of Merger and Acquisition activity has increased substantially. Some people object to mergers on the grounds that they lead to monopolies. Those who favour mergers say they develop competition by making companies stronger, more efficient, and better able to supply things at reasonable prices.
This dissertation looks at the possible adverse effects that mergers and acquisitions have on employees.
This work also describes the effect communication has on employee motivation during mergers and acquisitions. It examines its practical application in a recent Irish case study. The works of several theorists are explained in the Literature Review, as are some theories of motivation and communication.
