Abstract

ELearning in conjunction with mobile computing technologies has the potential to be the single most important application to arrive on the higher-education scene in coming years. The purpose of this research was to identify the challenges that IT Services department of a University would face to introduce elearning/blended learning and making the campus mobile. The research included detailed literature reviews, semi-structured interviews, etc. There were questionnaires aimed at Senior Academics and Administrators (to elicit their views on E-Learning readiness), and also aimed at a cross-section of the undergraduate population. Observation of the student body was also used as a data gathering technique. These practical studies and data gathering were done at University of Dublin, Ireland. The research shows that majority of senior people are committed to a move towards Elearning and that the student body would fully support the scheme. Further findings are mentioned in the paper.
