Abstract

Are You Speaking My Language?
Ireland has become a major gateway into and out of Europe and is now host to major global companies in a variety of industries from IT to pharmaceutical and international finance. With Ireland's advanced e-commerce infrastructure and the ever-increasing need for multilingual, multi-media communications, it has become apparent that we have accepted the reality that we can no longer expect the rest of the world to learn to speak English in order to engage with us. For that reason, I have explored the demand, supply and adequacy of the language services market through literature combined with primary research methods in order to assess just how well we are doing, and what else we need to do.
